Hate Story 4 serves up a lot of twists and turns but it’s all too predictable. Most of the clever story reveals are let down by the fact that there’s just too much erotica on offer. Director Pandya presents the movie in a slick package replete with the swanky London setting. The music though doesn’t work out at all. The cheap thrills really let down the punch of the story and the women-friendly climax.

Hate Story 4 is nothing more than a failed attempt to titillate the audience, but you know what totally killed me? Urvashi Rautela being really happy in a scene and saying, “The Oscar goes to…” She meant herself. You deserve better than this. Respect your intelligence. So much hate may ruin all the good things in your life.

Despite having a decent story, Pandya makes a hash of Hate Story 4, whenever he switches into a pedantic mood.Watch Hate Story 4, if you must, for Rautela, Bhatena and Wahi. And, of course, Gulshan Grover, who while having nothing much to do in the film as the duo’s ‘affluent’, ‘tycoon’ father, does entertain with his presence.

The plot is an excuse for the filmmakers to trot out the poured-into-short-dresses-starlets, songs and dances, and buff men trying to keep a leash on their baser instincts and failing. There’s also a murder, and blackmail, and revenge, these elements showing up as fillers between all the dressing up and down. The plot is a steady stream of hot bods. And acting, what’s that? The film has no ambitions that-a-way, so there.

HATE STORY IV begins with intriguing opening credits and is quite nicely done. The first sequence is unexpected as the film begins midway and then the narrative goes in a flashback mode. Some of the recent erotic films failed as they didn’t have adequate dosage of sex that the promos promised. HATE STORY IV thankfully is an exception. The film has enough steamy scenes and thrill to give the target audience its money’s worth. On the whole, HATE STORY IV has its fair share of intimacy and thrill, which has been the primary reason for the success of the series. At the box office, it will prove to be a safe bet for the makers considering its investment and the returns.

Penned by Sameer Arora, the story of Hate Story 4 is same old revenge drama but stylish. Falling for the same girl, faceoff in the climax & many more things which we’ve seen before. There surely are some interesting twists and turns but the average narration kills the pace. The only thing I want to know is why makers tend to infuse so much of melodrama in erotic thrillers? Who the hell on earth replies “You love my body because it has 65% of water” to “I love water” kind of comment? That has been the major issue with such movies like Hate Story 3, Aksar 2, Julie 2 and much more.

Directed by Vishal Pandya, Hate Story IV is one of those films, which leaves you wondering what it was. The film is a stale cocktail of lust, betrayal, revenge and vengeance. Interestingly, no actor seems to be even trying to act. Hate Story IV has a poor plot with a flawed execution. Watch Hate Story IV only if you are an ardent follower of the franchise, else it’s not a good pick this weekend.
