Kesari – First Look of Akshay Kumar in the film. Check out the first look of superstar Akshay Kumar in his most ambitious film Kesari produced by Karan Johar.

Akshay Kumar will play Havildar Ishar Singh in Anurag Singh’s film on the Battle of Saragarhi. “Parineeti plays a strong character and has really liked the script. The makers have started prep. Huge sets of the Saragarhi and Gulistan forts, as well as a village, have been erected in Wai, a town in Satara district,” informs a source close to the development.

The film is now being produced by Akshay Kumar’s Cape of Good Films, Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and Azure Entertainment. Salman Khan was earlier supposed to co-produce the film but he had opted out of the film.

The leading lady of the film is yet to be announced. Earlier there were rumors of Parineeti Chopra doing the film but nothing substantial has been confirmed officially.

Earlier Akshay Kumar’s Kesari had confirmed its final release date officially. It is 20th March 2019, Holi Weekend

Brief History Note – The Battle of Saragarhi was fought before the Tirah Campaign on 12 September 1897 between Sikh soldiers of the British Indian Army and Pashtun Orakzai tribesmen. It occurred in the North-West Frontier Province (now Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan).

The British Indian contingent comprised 21 Sikh soldiers of the 36th Sikhs (now the 4th battalion of the Sikh Regiment), who were stationed at an army post and were attacked by around 10,000 Afghans. The Sikhs, led by Havildar Ishar Singh, chose to fight to the death, in what is considered by some military historians as one of history’s greatest last-stands. The post was recaptured two days later by another British Indian contingent.

Sikh military personnel commemorate the battle every year on 12 September, as Saragarhi Day.
