Ayushmann Khurrana is back at the box office as his movie Dream Girl 2 has crossed the 50 crore collection mark at the after 5 days.

The film has collected around 51-52 crore (as per early estimates) in its five day journey at the box office. Dream Girl 2 is headed towards a 61-62 crore first week number at the box office. The film should cross the 80 crore mark since it has an open week in front of it with no new releases up until Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan at the box office.
After a string of failures at the box office over the last couple of years post pandemic, Ayushmann Khurrana has finally set the ball rolling with Dream Girl 2. This is huge respite for Ayushmann Khurrana whose films were doing well pre pandemic and had quite a few takers at the box office in spite of the unconventional themes.
The success of Dream Girl 2 should give him enough confidence to continue with the selection of the unique and interesting themes for his films but he should ensure that those films are palatable for the wider audience, much like Dream Girl 2.
The film is another success for Bollywood, the 6th one in the last 3 months (ZHZB, SPKK, RRKPK, Gadar 2, OMG 2 and now DG2) and that should completely consolidate the 'Bollywood is back' narrative going around the media. The Second Friday will tell us whether the film can go to the HIT Box office mark or whether it remains a small success at the box office.
Another important point to note is that, post Pandemic, all the sequels and franchise films have worked at the box office. There hasn't been a single such film which didn't work at the box office so this gives a clear indication of the appetite of the audience to watch such films at the theaters.
