Despite massive promotions and excitement from fans, the film couldn't hit theaters due to a last-minute legal issue. The makers officially announced that the release was postponed, expressing regret and apologizing to fans for the disappointment.

The main reason behind the delay is a financial dispute. Eros Entertainment, a partner in the film, filed a case in the Madras High Court because the production house, 14 Reels Plus LLP, owed them ₹27 crore. The court issued a stay order, stopping the movie from releasing on any platform until the dues are cleared.

This led to confusion, as some ticket booking sites were still allowing reservations, but the premiere shows were eventually cancelled.

Sources close to the team say that the producers have now paid off the dues and will approach the court to lift the stay order. There's a chance the film could be released by the evening of December 5, but it's also possible the team will push the release to a later date, especially since lead actor Nandamuri Balakrishna is reportedly upset with how the situation unfolded.

Akhanda 2 stars Balakrishna and Pragya Jaiswal, and fans are eagerly waiting for an official update on the new release date. Once the movie completes its theatrical run, it will be available to stream on Netflix.
